Basic Life Support
The next Missouri Dental Board CE reporting renewal date is upcoming: November 30, 2026. We encourage members to check the date on their current BLS cards as they are only good for two years. If you need a new BLS Provider Course Completion Card for the upcoming license renewal with the Dental Board, the American Heart Association (AHA) offers options on Basic Life Support (BLS). Visit the AHA’s website for more information.
- Health Care Professionals may take a full classroom course, or take a “blended learning” course. “Blended learning” is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner online (AHA fee applies), followed by a hands-on session. To search for a training center near you, visit https://atlas.heart.org/home, select “training center” and search by your location or zip code.
- IMPORATANT NOTE: BLS can be counted as part of the required 50 hours for renewal only if it is through a Dental Board approved CE provider. Technically, the BLS requirement for renewal is a separate requirement. There are many BLS courses out there that will satisfy the BLS requirement, but the entity teaching the course is not one of the approved CE providers listed in the rule therefore that course wouldn’t be eligible to cover both requirements. American Red Cross and American Heart Association are on the list of approved providers in the rule so their BLS courses, as long as they aren’t the entirely online course, will satisfy the BLS requirement and be countable toward the 50 CE hours required for renewal.
