The Council on Scientific Sessions is composed of at least eight and as many as 13 members. Each year the second vice-president appoints a member for a term of five (5) years, with the member serving as council chair in the fourth year of their term. Additionally, the Council assists Society staff with the coordination of volunteers in response to community requests for speakers.  Any other community outreach initiatives would also fall under the Council's purview.
