GSLDS Councils and Committees

Interested in getting more involved? GSLDS has a variety of Councils and Committees working on behalf of the Society, and the profession. Contact Meg (meg@stlouisdental.org) or Susan (susan@stlouisdenta.org) to learn more and find the best fit for your time and interests.

Council on Membership

The Council on Membership works to secure every dentist in our Society's geographical boundaries as a member. The Council helps plan various member programs and events such as Shred-a-Thon and Member Appreciation Night.

The Council on Membership is comprised of District representatives and a New Dentist representative.

This Council typically meets three to four times a year.

Council on Scientific Sessions

The Council on Scientific Sessions helps to plan and execute the annual Mid-Continent Dental Congress and any other CE offerings the Society hosts throughout the year. The Council is responsible for everything from selecting speakers to setting fees.

The Council on Scientific Sessions is comprised of at least eight and as many as 13 members. Each year the GSLDS 2nd Vice-President appoints a member for a term of five years, with the member serving as council chair in the fourth year of their term. The chair appoints up to two additional members to serve three year terms.

The Council typically meets between six to eight times per year.

Council on Outreach

This Council plans and coordinates the Society’s annual coloring contest celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month.

Additionally, the Council assists Society staff with the coordination of volunteers in response to community requests for speakers. Any other community outreach initiatives would also fall under the Council's purview.

The Council on Outreach typically meets one to two times per year.
