Expanded Functions for Dental Assistants

Expanded function dental assistant training is designed to bring participants to pre-clinical competence in performing dental procedures. For more information about EFDA program in Missouri and certification procedures please visit the Missouri Dental Association's EFDA Website.

Basic Skills

Assistants designated as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) from DANB or Dental Assistants that have passed the Basic Skills Exam with a 75 percent score or better are eligible to take Expanded Function courses. The Basic Skills Exam can be completed through an online review and exam, in person review and exam or through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
