Oral malodor, also known as halitosis, is a condition that has been recognized since ancient times. Americans spend ​more than 2 billion dollars annually for fresh breath. Dental professionals are placed in the ideal position to offer solutions for an embarrassing problem. This course will assist the dental professional in addressing oral malodor. It will empower the clinician to make courageous conversations about an uncomfortable topic with their patients.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Learn about Gen Z-specific issues pertaining to oral health and overall health.
  • Understand how social media platforms influence decisions.

Participants will engage in a lively discussion on timely topics relating to Gen Z. Dialogue may include oral and overall health issues associated with nutrition, obesity, eating disorders and substance abuse. Gen Z, also known as the Global Generation, engages in multiple platforms of social media. This course identifies and addresses many of the platforms that influence teen’s venturous decisions.


​Speaker Bio: Cathy Stewart, RDH, BS, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Iowa. Cathy’s dental hygiene career has included clinical practice, experience in the dental insurance industry, public health, hospital pediatric dentistry, practice consulting and she has served as the Director of Dental Hygiene for a large dental service organization. She is currently a full time  Professional Education Manager in the South Central Region for Philips Oral Healthcare. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, American Association of Oral and Systemic Health, as well as the American Dental Educators’ Association.
